American cars were big, bold and strong with brands like Packard, Desoto, Zephyr, Willys and Cord still going strong. In Germany, Dr. Porsche introduced his People's Car, the Volkswagen Beetle. The first concrete bridge was built this year and the first practical helicopter took to the skies. Life Magazine published its first edition and the Green Hornet Radio Show debuted. Franklin D.
